Development of multiphysics coupling system for nuclear fuel rod with COMSOL and RMC

Coupling fuel performance and neutronics can help improve the prediction accuracy of rod behavior, which is important for design evaluation. A multiphysics coupled system was developed with software COMSOL 3D Monte Carlo neutron transport code RMC. The analysis module built on top ability to simulate behavior in two-dimensional axisymmetric (2D-RZ) or three-dimensional (3D) mode. RMC innovatively wrapped as a component communicate module. data transferring coupling process maintained using COMSOL’s functionality. Two-way achieved by mapping power distribution fast flux fields from temperature coolant density pin lattice modeled demonstrate coupling. Results show that calculated distributions are reasonable. Considering flexibility system, it be applied evaluation new design.
